Application Checklist

Please complete the four steps below to ensure you are ready to apply to join the Grow Wild Community Programme.

How to make your 'elevator pitch'

Gather your group and start planning your ‘elevator pitch’ - a video (5 minutes max) including:

  1. An introduction to your group.
  2. What your project idea is and how you will achieve it.
  3. The space you want to transform, this can be shown or described.
  4. How your project will have a positive impact for biodiversity including growing UK native plants.
  5. Who you will involve in the project and how they will benefit.

There are lots of ways to create your video, (we’re more interested in your ideas than your film making skills)

  • You don't have to be on camera.
  • You could film your space, providing an audio or subtitled description.
  • You could interview other members of your group or wider community, explaining why the project idea is fantastic.
  • If creating a video is difficult for your group due to specific access needs, contact Grow Wild to discuss a suitable alternative.

Create a link to your video, to include in your application form.

  • You may find it easier to first upload your video to a sharing site such as YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Check the privacy settings to make sure your video isn’t publicly discoverable if you don’t want it to be, but make sure Grow Wild will have access to view the video.

Ensure that you have consent from all participants in any photos or videos included in your application.

Make sure participants are informed that the content will be shared with Grow Wild, prior to taking part.  If your photos or videos include any people under 18, you must obtain their parental or guardian consent.

Look at the application questions in plenty of time before the deadline, so you can prepare the information requested.

Please note: you cannot save your progress on the application form once you have started it.  We suggested preparing your answers on a separate document first, to copy and paste into the form.

For the application form you will need to include:

  • A link to your 5 minute ‘elevator pitch’
  • A copy of your group’s safeguarding policy and procedures
  • Evidence of landowner permission for the project space
  • Your budget plan and timeline (more information in section 4 below)

You will find full guidance to complete these on the template provided below.

Save a copy of the template and enter your information directly onto it. When completing the online application form you will be prompted to upload this document.
